A metronome can feel like a drill sergeant—but it should be your coach.
Set Slow First: Don’t match performance tempo right away. Start slow enough to avoid mistakes.
Use Landmarks: Instead of every beat, let it click only on beat 1. Train inner pulse.
Gradual Bumps: Increase speed by 2–4 bpm. Rushing progress causes sloppy playing.
Relax Physically: Don’t tense trying to “chase the click.” Breathe and release shoulders.
Test Yourself: Play without metronome, then check with it. Gaps reveal weak spots.
